Distressed Circle Sawn White Pine Beam with Pegged Corbels

This one has a lot of nice aged dings and nicks and includes a handmade tethering ring showing years of use in the barn. We made some matching corbels that mount with bolts hidden by some old authentic barn pegs or trunnels. Trunnel or barn peg, (also known as a tree nail), is the wooden pegs used to hold the whole tendon and mortise barn beam structure together. Circle Sawn White Pine Mantel with Matching Tenon Corbels

White pine is one of our favorites because it is always straight and light weight with a pretty patina. Soft to the touch and less splinters they get a mostly medium brown patina with a hue of red some would say.There is a mortise and a chip on the back side of this one. This one is a good size for a fireplace mantel piece. The matching corbels are just for show and not ready for support but could carry the weight if modified. Otherwise hang the beam by one of our other install options at the bottom of this page and attached the corbels after. Gray Rustic Sawn Douglas Fir Slab

As we have mentioned before anything thicker than 1″ in gray is hard to come by. We do get calls for it so we try to leave some out in the sun all summer up high to keep them dryer and we rotate them to get an even gray. It takes all summer here in Michigan to get one that is somewhat evenly gray without shadows. This one came out real nice with the large bleeding nail holes and rustic saw marks.
We do have 2 shorter ones if you want to make shelves or corbels out of them.

Deep Rough Sawn Douglas Fir Mantel

This came from an old warehouse joist so a little different than our normal barn beams. We get a lot of request for this size and generally do not get it in a barn beam. A very dark patina with some hi-lo dings. The cut end would definitely need a touch up with a torch and it will match perfectly. This is a pretty heavy piece so it should set on something or be set in stone good.
